Fiber as the answer to growing demand

A stable internet connection is essential – especially in times when families are working and learning from home. That’s why Hanab Telecom Infra (HTI), through its FttX business unit, made major strides in expanding fiber connections across the Netherlands in 2019 and 2020.

Fiber to the X

Under the leadership of Niels Kamphuis (director of FttX from 2019 to 2024), demand for fiber grew rapidly. While initial projects in 2018 focused on rural areas, by 2019 large-scale rollouts were underway, with the milestone of more than 150,000 homes in sight for 2020.

Challenges and approach

Connecting low-rise homes was relatively straightforward, but for apartment buildings and complexes, approval from housing associations or owners’ associations was often required. During the COVID-19 period, our technicians continued the work with additional safety measures, ensuring customers could still rely on fast and stable connections.

An essential network

The pandemic years highlighted just how vital fiber is: for remote work, online education, business communications, and staying connected with family – both nearby and abroad.
