Baltyk 2 and 3 Landfall HDD completed

Hanab Directional Drilling is proud to announce the successful completion of the HDD landfall works for the Baltyk 2 and 3 Offshore Wind Farm project on the Polish Baltic coast for a joint venture of Equinor and Polenergia.

Working in a challenging coastal environment and demanding soil conditions, our team successfully delivered four long-distance Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) installations, creating the critical landfall connection between offshore export cable corridors and the future onshore transmission infrastructure. The project was executed within a Natura 2000 environment, requiring precise engineering, meticulous planning, and close coordination between onshore and offshore operations. The project was executed in a safe way, with zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs), reflecting the high safety standards maintained throughout the site.

The works involved pilot drilling, borehole enlargement through multi-phase reaming operations consisting of 26", 32" and 36" flycutters and hole openers, offshore punch-out operations, marine-supported pullback activities, duct installation, calibration testing, and final as-built verification. Throughout the project, advanced gyro steering technology and rigorous drilling fluid management were used to ensure accuracy, quality, and environmental compliance.

This achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of our project teams, engineers, drill crews, mud engineers, HSE specialists, offshore teams, support staff, suppliers and subcontractors. Their commitment enabled the safe and successful delivery of a technically demanding project that will play a key role in supporting approximately 1.44 GW of offshore renewable energy generation from the Bałtyk 2and Bałtyk 3 developments.
