HDD Landfalls for offshore windfarms in Poland

Hanab Directional Drilling is currently working in Poland, where we are constructing four HDD Landfalls for the offshore wind farms Baltyk 2 and 3.

HDD Landfalls Poland

For this project, our supplier Pipelife Norge has produced 4 HDPE-ducts with a diameter of 710mm, each approximately 1500 meters long in one continuous length. This is a unique process that avoids any welds in the duct, which is beneficial for the pull-in operation and reduces the risk of cable damage during the pull in of the cable. With the production of this first HDPE-duct with a length of more than 1500 meters, a world record has been set for the longest continuously extruded polyethylene-pipe without interruptions or welds.

The ducts will be towed over sea in one continuous length towards the project location in Poland, where they will be pulled into the drilled borehole from offshore towards onshore. The offshore wind farms will have a total capacity of 1440MW and will provide green energy to more than two million households.
