De Ananas
MEGA ONE seasonal thermal energy storage system for 374 apartments
In Leiden, Dubotechniek installed a seasonal thermal energy storage system for the Ananas apartment complex. Working with Hanab Installation Technology, Dubotechniek was responsible for the entire installation engineering. Dubotechniek’s MEGA ONE seasonal thermal energy storage system has been providing sustainable heating and cooling for the residents of the Ananas complex since 2022. The final apartments have now been completed and the project is officially over.
Phased execution
The scale of this project meant that the apartments were completed in phases, with the first residents moving into their new homes on Ananaslaan as early as 2022. This meant that the MEGA ONE seasonal thermal energy storage system had to be installed early on in the process. Over the past 24 months, new residential blocks have been connected to the sustainable system in phases. This was an interesting challenge, as the seasonal thermal energy storage system had to continue to operate uninterrupted for the existing homes whilst the new homes were being connected. Here, Dubotechniek ensured that there was consistent comfort for residents who had already moved in.
More than 1,000 kW
The MEGA ONE seasonal thermal energy storage system is connected to two pairs of 80 m³ open-loop wells, making use of a total of four wells. These wells are supported by four large roof-mounted dry coolers with a total capacity of 1,000 kW. The system itself also has a capacity of 1,000 kW for heating and 950 kW for cooling. Dubotechniek also provided the underfloor heating with temperature control, and Hanab Installation Technology Vianen supplied the distribution system.
