Three questions for Denny

Denny started at Hanab 27 years ago as an apprentice fitter and progressed to Site Manager at Hanab Installation Technology. He understands every aspect of the trade and focuses daily on maintaining oversight and thinking ahead. Ask him about his work and you’ll quickly find yourself in an engaging conversation. That’s why: three questions for Denny.

It simply has to be done properly and to a high standard

What are you most proud of in your work?
“When you’ve delivered a great project with a good team and are standing there afterwards with a very satisfied client—that’s what I value most.

Whether the project made a profit or not matters less to me. If the client, or the people who will eventually use the building, say ‘this has been done really well’, then I’m proud.”

How do you recognise that experience adds value to a project?
“With experience, you recognise situations more quickly and see where things might go wrong. You’ve seen a lot before and know what to look out for.

That allows you to think ahead and tackle problems in time. It helps you stay in control of the work, especially on large and complex projects.”

How do you make sure your team works well together?
“Everyone has their own knowledge and specialism, and you need each other to deliver a project successfully.

I try to encourage people to speak up and share their ideas, even if they’re new to the job. Good solutions can come from anywhere—whether you’re an apprentice fitter or a site manager.”
