Placement of the Wierden substation captured on video
Placement of the Wierden substation
In Wierden, we installed the first prefab substation as part of a wider rollout to strengthen the electricity grid. In this video, we take you to Akeleistraat, where the station has been realised in the heart of a residential area.
The placement is a key milestone within the project. Handling 183 tonnes of materials and a large crane in the middle of a residential area requires a precisely planned and carefully executed operation. The limited space and the immediate surroundings make this a technically and logistically challenging project. The installation in Wierden marks an important milestone. In the coming years, stations like this will need to be delivered on a large scale to future-proof the electricity grid. By using prefab components, the construction process can be accelerated and standardised. The station is assembled from four prefab elements – the basement structure, superstructure, installation and roof – which are brought together on site.
What defines this project is the intensive collaboration. Our Hanab divisions work closely together with partners Wessels Rijssen and TLT, on behalf of Enexis and in close coordination with the municipality. This collaboration, combined with thorough preparation, enables a complex installation like this to be carried out safely and efficiently.
In the video, you can see how all disciplines come together within a confined space and how we build, step by step, towards a future-proof electricity grid.
